Given the choice between the 300l's competitor from Kawasaki and a used XR650L I went with the latter I think I made the right choice, the 300s are barely a step up from the medium dirt bikes I rode as a kid, just full sized The XRL is fully capable of being a do it all bike, and can be customized to the moon to do whatever you want

I just finished Dave's mods yesterday -- Honda XR650L, carb (5 32, 025 needle shim) with mixture at 2 1 2 turns, 55 160 jets, smog removed, FMF Powercore exhaust, De-snorkeled, K N filter I was already using My first time to do stuff like this; especially, the carb I turned on the fuel petcock and wondered how long I would have to crank before it would start, and would I have to adjust

The DR650 and XR650L are basically bulletproof with very simple, cheap mods I am a Honda guy but I found my 650L much too tall and top heavy for me in most offroad DS situations

The XR650L is solid off road, but pretty much ass for touring No wind protection, no passing power at highway speeds, no cushy seat, and a tiny little gas tank

Ive been in love with the XR650 for the longest time now I'm going to college soon, and want to get a dualsport for going back and forth from campus, and tear it up down a trail Im a big guy at 6'2", and 220 lbs Everyone says the XR650 is a big bike, so would I fit on it ok? How would it be as a first bike?
