Every hook manufacturer, and likely Umpqua doesn't actually make the hooks, can have quality control issues due to the volume of hooks produced at one time I own a fly tackle business, where I produce flies lures, and use most of the major hook brands and some of the house branded hooks from various sources

The Umpqua's, though heavier, are bulletproof and the larger ones hold an insane amount of flies (think 750-1000) I have found using a mixture of the boxes (not by just one maker) has proven to best meet my needs Cooutlaw, Do you find the Umpqua and Cliff boxes to be memory free like the Tacky boxes are?
