Recently I asked homeworx the differences between their units and this was their reply: HW180STB and HW130STB are simplified models of HW-150PVR HW-150PVR has following features that HW-180STB HW130STB don't: - Metal case, better heat dissipation However, we recommend to set up boxes in a well ventilated area, not inside a cabinet

Back to the HomeWorx I took some photos of mine I have an old one (Nov 2014) with V2 1 firmware and a new one (Sept 2021) with V6 8 firmware I set the new on on top of the old one for these photos As I mentioned a few weeks ago, the front panels are identical except for the Dolby trademark: Below are the back panels: also identical except the V6 8 model has the connections bunched more

Cross-flashed HomeWorx v2 1 firmware to fix some bugs, which it did, but it created a new bug with audio - and it won't flash back! I think they changed the flash ROM, and the flashing subroutine in the HomeWorx firmware won't flash the new ROM, so I'm stuck with that firmware on it (Of course at their low prices, I can just buy another )

The HomeWorx is supposed to allow that by setting its RF output to "loop through" instead of channel 3 or 4 But I've found it usually works better to use an inexpensive RF splitter instead In my experience the quality of the "loop through" signal is often not very good, so some of your weaker stations may not work using "loop through "

My other Homeworx is in Stroud, where it can record Tulsa's Retro affiliate No problems with that one, so it's clearly the local affiliate, not Retro in general Here in DFW, Retro is on one of those low-power "pay-to-play" stations, which explains why the PSIP is so poor (bad time and no EPG)

Start here: Homeworx HW-150PVR, Support and Discussion It's a long, old post of mine, but the most important thing is the iView firmware links, which I just updated (had to because iView renamed their files when moving to a new server last year)

The iView and HomeWorX are only superficially different There is a little more variety with iView firmware but I'm not sure it would help Some iView firmware versions work like the HomeWorX, find all channels including scrambled ones, and have the same 400-channel limit
