- Backblaze Versus iDrive Cloud Backup Solutions
Backblaze: Does not backup extended attributes or retain file creation and modification dates iDrive: I believe is the same, but have never tested As @Apple_Robert implies, Arq Backup is a much better product for macOS I use it with both OneDrive and Backblaze B2 cloud storage
- Best Cloud based backup solution for Plex content
I use BackBlaze for backing up my Mac and it has worked well thus far It would be a good move for your NAS You also might want to look into getting another NAS to backup the other I don’t use Backblaze for my Plex because I have 50+ TB
- Mac mini running out of memory | MacRumors Forums
Backblaze reported all files were currently backed up so I set it for manual backup and clicked the pause button It just hung there with the spinning pinwheel and this amount of memory usage Finally killed it manually, which instantly released all that RAM
- Robust online cloud backup? [MERGED] - MacRumors Forums
I have about 32GB of data in my ~ Users folder, so 100GB on B2 give me backup versions going back about six months I also like the using Arq gives me full control of encryption before the data leaves my computer If you go to the Backblaze website and look in my Bucket, all you will see is a bunch of random folders full of gibberish encrypted
- Backblaze - any thoughts? - MacRumors Forums
The big issue, for me, is that Backblaze Unlimited Backup does not backup extended attributes So when you come to restore files they will have lost their Finder tags along with some other, perhaps less critical, attributes But do your own test Better to use Arq and your choice of cloud storage (which can be Backblaze's B2 storage)
- Is there a trick to speed up Backblaze? - MacRumors Forums
Backblaze seems to be checking system resources and making a recommendation In my case it recommends 6 threads: This message seems to say that Backblaze can saturate your internet connection, implying that there is no upload restrictions other than those imposed by your system hardware
- Synology NAS ok for non-technical user? Or is there a better solution . . .
Backblaze is a must This is earthquake fire country, and we can’t risk everything being local Backblaze personal won’t work with Synology because a NAS is a separate computer, and the supported B2 service is prohibitively expensive The large Pegasus units are out of stock, 32 TB is all that’s available
- 2019 Intel iMac - What to do? | MacRumors Forums
I do all my keyboard stuff with a 15" M2 MBA while sitting in a rocking chair (Yes, I'm old ) Although I don't sit down at the iMac often, it still does lots of stuff including Plex, encoding and uploading videos to YouTube, storing all my media and photo files on an external drive, and backing all that up with both BackBlaze and CCC
